Absence

If a student is absent from school for any reason, and particularly if they are ill, we ask that the parent/guardian contact the Tutor or Section Administrator via email or phone call. If a student suffers an extended illness, parents are required to inform the school as soon as possible. We request written notification at least three days before a planned absence. If students have to leave school during the day for unavoidable reasons, they must obtain written permission from Tutors, Heads of Year or the Head of Section, which must be presented at reception in order to sign out. If these people are unavailable, students can ask a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

These procedures for signing out of school are then followed by students:

• Collect a Sign-Out card from the Reception desk at the General Office
• Swipe out with their Octopus card
• Hand the sign-out card to the guard at the gate
• Sign out with the guard

Both signing AND swiping in again upon return are compulsory. Anyone late must also swipe and sign in with the guard upon arrival indicating a specific reason for the lateness. Persistent lateness results in a range of appropriate sanctions.
